How does Finasteride work ?

Finasteride is a drug in the form of 1 mg tablets, it belongs to the family of 5-Alpha reductase inhibitors. It works by preventing the 5-Alpha reductase enzyme from converting testosterone into DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which is the hormone responsible for hair loss. This is why Finasteride is commonly referred to as a DHT blocker.

DHT is only blocked when Finasteride is active in the body, so the drug must be taken daily to take full effect. When the use of Finasteride is interrupted, the body will begin to convert testosterone to DHT again and hair loss will continue its course.

How do I take this medicine ?

One tablet should be taken daily, with or without food. It is advisable to take the tablet at the same time every day to maximize its effectiveness.
